The path to the goal can be a path of thorns or a road full of curves. The strikers are always under the spotlight: if they score, everything goes well; but if they don't do it, the critics feed on them. That relationship is the latest study of 'ProFootballDB', which analyses in detail how goals are distributed in LaLiga based on positions on the field.
It's not a question of which striker is better or worse. They are looking for absolutely objective values with which to endorse the scoring distribution of the clubs up to the ninth matchday. At the top of the list - ordered by relevance of the strikers - appear Getafe. Of their seven goals scored, 85.71% of them have been provided by strikers.
At the bottom of the table sit another team from Madrid: Leganés. Eight goals scored, of which only 25% belong to their strikers. The 'pepinero' side stand out positively and above the rest in the relevance of their midfielders, who have converted 62.5% of the goals. Leganés need more 'punch' from their strikers.
Looking at Madrid's numbers, it is imperative to highlight the goals scored by their defenders: 30.77%. This has to do, for the most part, with Ramos being on penalties. 'Los Blancos', however, suffer from a lack of contribution from their strikers. Only 53.85% of the goals come from their forwards.
The difference is significant when compared to Barça's statistics, which show that more than 68% of the goals come from the strikeforce. The defenders, in this case, do not contribute too much (9.09%). The numbers of the 'Blaugrana' side resemble those of Atletico and Sevilla, curiously three teams that appear in the top positions.
At the same time, the null contribution of Celta's and Huesca's defence or the even distribution of goals from midfielders and strikers at Valladolid, one of the great surprises of La Liga, stand out. Alaves triumph thanks to the goals of their midfielders (50%). Finally, the serious offensive problems of Betis are clear. Only five goals, less than half of which (40%) come from their most advanced players.
