Fans could return to grounds earlier than expected. Javier Tebas, the La Liga president, reported that the league are working on a protocol which means stadia could open "this season or next".
"We are working on a protocol to open the stadia to fans. Respecting social distancing, with masks. Areas sectioned off with a special entrance. A website where fans who plan to attend the game will have to register so that they get a specific entry time and the route they would have to take inside the stadium. That is to prevent crowds gathering and the same applies when leaving," he told 'Radio Marca Asturias'.
"We are very concerned about going into and out of grounds and at half-time. It's a protocol which could be useful for this season and the next until we can have a full house, something which I think is still some time away," he continued.
The La Liga president referred to the Antiviolence Commission's decision to call the Asturian derby between Sporting Gijon and Oviedo "high risk". The Segunda match will take place on Monday 22nd June: "I haven't been able to mediate between the Sporting and Oviedo boards because they haven't asked me to. I wish they got on better."
"As people cannot go to the ground, you have to remember that Monday is the day with the greatest television audiences. The derby, even though it's late (21:45 CET), is at prime time for TV. Had there been supporters present, it wouldn't have been played at that time and even less so as it is in the north of the country. The derby, even without fans, is still a derby."
Tebas concluded by appealing to fans to stay at home: "I want to appeal to all fans to enjoy the derby at home. We must not get complacent, there could be an outbreak amongst a group of fans at any time which could affect a whole city," Tebas finished.
