"I like Mbappe as a player, but that question is not for me. I have a good contract, but I cannot buy him. The signing of Mbappe is for another department of the club," joked the German during the press conference.
In this way Toni Kroos dodged the question over the possible signing of the Frenchman for Real Madrid. The German did not want to get himself into a sticky situation and he turned to sarcasm to not feed speculation on the PSG star signing for the Bernabeu outfit.
Mbappe released the bombshell in the UNFP awards ceremony (National Union of Professional Footballers) where he ended up being the main winner. He also left open the possibility of leaving the Parc des Princes this summer after two seasons at PSG.
"I am facing a very important moment in my career, is the first or second turning point of my career. I have discovered many things in my team, maybe it is the moment to take more responsability. I hope it is at PSG, which would be nice or maybe elsewhere in a new project," he declared.
A speech which set alarm bells ring at PSG and the Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani had planned to travel to Paris in the coming days to discuss Neymar and Mbappe's future at the club.
