Jurgen Klopp appeared in front of the media before Liverpool v Real Madrid on Wednesday and, amongst other questions, he was asked about his fellow countryman Toni Kroos. His comparison left no doubts as to what he thinks of the player.
Klopp sees in Kroos a better version of Schuster. "His skills are like... I don't know if you know Bernd Schuster, but he was a German player who was very successful in Spain", Klopp said after being questioned about Kross.
Effectively, Schuster was successful in Spain: he played for Barca, Madrid and Atletico, in that order, and it was there where he left some good memories, as well as a good example of his fiery character.
"He was a quick player, but Toni is probably quicker and more dynamic in everything he does. Maybe he's not a sprinter, but he's quicker", he added.
His praise didn't end there. "He is someone who is very difficult to defend against because he can switch the play from the other end of the pitch", he continued.
"And when he's in the danger zone, he has the eye to find a gap with a pass or can even finish from long-distance. So, to be honest, he's a complete player", Klopp added about his compatriot.
