We are currently in the midst of the World Cup and most top players are there. Thats is not the case with Alaba, as Austria did not qualify for the World Cup.
The Real Madrid player is enjoying the time off, with his family and giving interviews, like he just gave to 'GQ'.
With regards to adpating to life in the Madrid side and his relationship with his teammates, this is what he had to say: "I get on well with everyone, especially Kroos and Rudiger, who I've know for a while. But Hazard and Benzema are two guys I spend time with off the pitch. And Modric has bascially become an older brother to me".
That is because Kroos is one of the players who has helped him the most since he arrived in the Spanish capital. "I knew him from my time in Munich. He helped me a lot, especially in my first few weeks and months. Him and his wife welcomed my family and me with open arms and they helped us with everything we needed. The fact I knew Ancelotti from Munich also sped up the move. But I've also got to thank the whole squad, who gave me a great welcome right from day 1. I felt at home immediately", he said.
As for the city, Alaba admitted that he is still getting to know it little by little: "I have a few restaurants I like to go to. Of course, the fans recognise you immediately in cafes. Here, everyone lives for football and for Madrid. People here are more sensitive in a positive way, they live for football and the euforia is massive".
To finish, the Austrian admitted how painful it was to leave Bayern: "The decision to leave Munich was one of the hardest of my life. I took a bit of time to think long and hard about it and to have a lot of conversations with my family and those around me about it", he concluded.
