Mateo Kovacic joined Pep Guardiola's side after five years at Chelsea, where he won the Champions League and Europa League and made 221 appearances. He is City's first signing of the transfer window and his arrival compensates for the departure of Ilkay Gundogan.
The Croatian midfielder made his debut in a Manchester City shirt in the friendly against Yokohama F Marinos in Japan. Both his new manager and his teammates are delighted with the 29-year-old, as Ruben Dias and Pep Guardiola told a press conference.
"Overall we have a very good environment between all of us. Even Mateo [Kovacic] has just come in - we had our first conversation with him and he was like, wow this is amazing. How well you all get along," Dias told reporters.
"He has a lot to know but his first impressions shows what he thinks. People can make jokes but they accept to be made of a joke too. That friendly environment between us definitely helps us. But when the time comes definitely we are together."
