Kounde confirms five-year contract extension: "It's a matter of days"

Ahead of the second friendly of the tour against FC Seoul, Jules Kounde spoke to the media and confirmed his new deal with Barcelona, something that had been rumoured in recent days. The French international is set to commit to a long-term contract at the Camp Nou.
"It's a matter of days, I think everything is finalised. It's been quite quick, both myself and the club shared the same vision. I'm very happy at the club, I'm happy with the vision here. I'm very grateful. Every year we fight for every trophy. Yes, it will be until 2030," the Frenchman confirmed.
He declined to elaborate on the Ter Stegen situation: "He's not with us right now and it's not something we're talking about. We know it's a difficult situation for him as a teammate and as a person. I know it's difficult. The captaincy isn't a question for me, but for the club."
"Always a full-back? Nothing is set in stone in football. I'm 26 years old, at the moment I'm playing as a full-back and I'm improving. Hopefully this year I can take a step forward. I'm always available to the coach, he knows I can play in both positions. I'm happy. The truth is that having been trained as a centre-back, I'll always feel more like a centre-back than a full-back, but I'm happy."
His goal in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid: "I've been asked several times. It's a goal that thrilled Barcelona fans and all the supporters because of the circumstances and the moment. It was an important and decisive goal, so it's a very nice memory."
Very close to Marcus Rashford in his first few days: "He's happy. He's smiling a lot, happy on the pitch too. He reminds me a bit of myself, he's a bit introverted but he enjoys it a lot. He's feeling more and more comfortable. Everyone has welcomed him very well. I'm trying to help him in the best way possible, but I think everyone is."
