Madrid and Spurs want Kounde to sign for them, but where does the man himself want to go? According to 'ABC', he admitted his preferred destination to his French teammates Mbappe and Benzema at their training camp for the Euros. The Sevilla centre-back wants to play for Real Madrid, which will allow the club to go ahead with trying to secure his signature.
The main stumbling block will be money. Sevilla's famous sporting director Monchi is considering only letting him go via his release clause, which stands at a whopping 80 million euros. Especially considering the financial damages of the coronavirus, few clubs will be able to part ways with this this amount of cash, and Madrid would be no exception.
That being said, it plays in their favour that Spurs would be of the same financial mindset and that the player clearly wants to stay in Spain, given his reported desire to play in the country's capital. Problems could arise for 'Los Blancos', however, if new potential suitors emerge for his signature, as several other clubs have been rumoured to be interested.
The biggest problem of all would be if one of these clubs is one of Europe's big spenders, such as PSG or Chelsea, however at the moment they are yet to be rumoured to be in the race for Kounde. For their part, Sevilla want him at the club for at least another season.
