Ronald Koeman had rotated more or less between the same players up front as a lack of signings meant the team were short of players in that posiition. Ansu Fati's injury has made things even worse.
As Pedri is playing more in the middle, the Dutchman had played Messi, Griezmann and Ansu Fati as his front three while Trincao and Dembele appeared as back ups. The Frenchman is now starting to perform.
Without Fati, Koeman will have to turn to other options. He not only has Martin Braithwaite, but also the B team at his disposal. Koeman is not a fan of Braithwaite and no player from the B team has yet to have minutes for the first team so far this season.
However, Fati's injury could make this all change. Konrad de la Fuente is in the academy again and he was in the squad for several La Liga matches such as the one against Betis.
Konrad, 19, is currently with the USA national team alongside his teammate Sergino Dest and de la Fuente is realising his first team debut may be just around the corner.
'Mundo Deportivo' said back in pre-season that Barca are counting on him and even refused to send him out on loan to Girona. Koeman loves him. "If I have to highlight one, I'm really happy with Konrad," the Dutchman said.
