Liverpool have long been a team that many have admired for their attacking style of play, but they are yet to win a trophy under their current manager.
A huge test as to whether they will be able to win the Premier League for their first time ever this season comes on Sunday, when they face last year's league champions Man City.
Speaking ahead of the game, Klopp used a rather unusual anaolgy to describe what he wants to see from his promising team in such a matchup.
"I grew up in a time when Boris Becker and Michael Stich were the best tennis players in Germany and maybe for a few years in the world" the former Borussia Dortmund boss explained.
"Michael Stich was an outstanding tennis player, maybe better than Boris Becker, but he was not Boris Becker"
"We cannot wait until City are not there any more. We want to fight them. We want to have battles with them, 100 per cent. We still have to be a bit more passionate."
Klopp will hope they can channel the winning mentality of his compatriot Becker in the match at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
