The Reds boss told 'Sky Sports': ''I am a fan of Trent. That's why he plays very often, and because he plays on a high level. He's developed over the past year. Mentally he didn't have to improve but physically he did.''
Klopp added: ''I'm not Gareth Southgate, but if he needed a player who can play right-back and maybe other positions too, I think he would be a good choice. If Gareth needs him, he'd be ready.''
The 19-year-old right-back has earned three caps for England's U21s but has not yet been called up to the senior international squad.
If selected, Alexander-Arnold would be battling it out with Manchester City's Kyle Walker and Spurs' Kieran Trippier for a shot at the starting lineup ahead of the competition.
