Ajax travelled to Denmark with just 17 footballers after the virus outbreak in the squad. In the end, six of the positive results were actually negative. Davy Klaassen was one of those negative.
Some of his teammates even started the game, but he did not. He was registered for the game in time and played the second half. He was one of the last to be notified that it had been a false positive.
This is what he said ahead of that strange Tuesday in the Champions League. "I was waiting all day. For a moment I thought I wasn't going to play, so I got comfy and sat down on the sofa. Then the call came," Klaassen told Ajax's website.
"I immediately got nervous, I managed to get someone to take me to the airport as soon as possible and then I was driven from the airport straight to the ground. I was more nervous than in any other game," he explained.
