Simon Kjaer is that brave Danish captain who became famous in the summer Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest. He calmed his wife down, formed a human barrier to prevent cameras filming Eriksen and, the following seasons, he suffered one of the worst injuries that can affect a footballer: a cruciate ligament tear.
He still has not returned and his latest match goes back from 1st December last year, but he has a suitor. That is Fiorentina. According to 'La Nazione', the Fiorentina board are thinking of signing him to cover the possible absence of Nikola Milenkovic, who is on the agendas of both Juventus and Inter Milan.
Although Kjaer is not fully match fir for obvious reasons, he is a top class professional. In the 2020-21 season, he went onto the pitch on 39 occasions, all of them as a starter, at AC Milan, which speaks well of his level. Before that, he has played in Sevilla, Lille and Wolfsburg. He has lots of experience in the top leagues.
In order to get hold of him, Fiorentina will have to offer 14.5 million euros because that is his market value and he has a contract until 2024. It could be that his injury will help the deal be completed because the 'Rossoneri' are used to being without him.
