"Kill someone, maybe?" - Guardiola on dealing with an opposition with a low block

Manchester City and Arsenal showed at the Etihad Stadium that neither side was willing to take any risks (0-0). Both sides are in the midst of the battle for the Premier League title and it was Klopp's Liverpool who came out on top, beating Brighton 2-1 at Anfield.

Pep Guardiola, speaking after the game against Arteta's side, said of the Gunners' defensive approach: "The game at the Emirates was similar. We tried to create a bit more, but it's not easy. They have very good players defending and they pressed high. They are fantastic at what they do. They had one or two chances in transitions when we lost some balls. It was a very close game. We failed a little bit in the final third."

In the same vein, the Santpedor coach was questioned about the best way to deal with a team that plays with a low block and did not hesitate to joke: "Kill someone? Play with a No 9, maybe. They defend well and a lot. You have to be patient and find the pass. There are different ways. It doesn't matter how many players you defend with, the main objective is not to concede".

On the other hand, Guardiola referred to his team's misfortune with injuries, having lost Stones and Walker in the international break and now Ake is injured. "That's the way it is. It happens sometimes. I think Stones will get better soon, but Walker and Ake will take longer. Rico Lewis played exceptionally well and we'll get there with the guys we've got."

Finally, the Catalan gave his views on the fierce fight for the Premier League title. "Liverpool are the favourites because they are in first place. But there are still nine games to go, so we'll see what happens.
