Martin Keown has commented on Arsenal's defeat to BATE Borisov, calling their performance "as poor as I can remember, certainly under Emery it is the worst performance we will have seen". He gave credit to BATE Borisov for their form on the night but has stated that Arsenal lacked conviction, penetration and were sloppy.
Keown has not dismissed all hope for Arsenal, saying that "I fully expect Arsenal to win the second leg but that is a very disappointing performance tonight."
He has also made comments on Mesut Ozil by saying Emery's persistent decision to leave him out of the squad is "becoming embarrassing". The German has missed a shocking total of 100 games out of a possible 314 for Arsenal since joining the Gunners in 2013. Keown has questioned the German's commitment but also suggested that the club must come to a solution.
