Pep Clotet decided to take over at SPAL after his time at Brescia. The aim is to get promord to Serie A, but the start has not been very good because they have just seven points from a possible 18 after two wins, a draw and three defeats.
Despite that, it seems like the board have full confidence in the Spanish coach. This became very clear after recent comments by SPAL owner Joe Tacopina. He thinks the coach could be at Barca, Real Madrid or Juventus in a few years time!
"Remember these words: in five years time, teams like Juve, Real Madrid and Barca will come and get him. But I will not let him leave, I'll get married to him. I told him that if he leaves, I'll kill him," Tacopina said and 'AS' has published these comments.
"Clotet is a special person and a phenomenal coach. Perinetti called me to say how good he was and that he had to sign him. He's our Ferguson, he could have earned lots of money elsewhere, but he wanted to reach an agreement with us and he's doing a great job," the SPAL president said.
Now, Clotet and his team, strongly backed by the owner, will try and put things right in the game against a historic club in Parma.
