Many were surprised when Monaco parted with a fee believed to be in the region of €25m for the then 16-year-old striker in January, with the youngster having just 300 minutes of action spread across seven games of senior experience to his name for Genoa.
However, Pellegri was always seen as an investment for the future and he started paying his transfer fee back on Sunday as he found the net for the first time for the Monegasque side.
Though he started on the bench against Bordeaux, Pellegri was introduced with 59 minutes gone and he needed just five minutes to draw his side level.
A late Bordeaux goal would end up comdemning Monaco to a shock defeat, but the day nevertheless promises to be one of the most memorable of Pellegri's fledgling career to date.
The strike was just the Italian's fourth in senior football, having previously scored three during his time with Genoa.
Thus, at the age of just 17, Pellegri has scored in both Serie A and Ligue 1, no mean feat.
