Junior Sambia, just 23, is in the hospital and in an induced coma after his symptoms worsened in the last few hours.
It was then that the doctors decided to move the footballer, who was the first to test positive for the French League's coronavirus, to another centre.
His agent, Frederic Guerra, reported his condition to 'Le Parisien' and was optimistic: "Last night they had stopped giving him anaesthetic products to see if he could breathe on his own".
"We don't have results yet because he's waking up, but that's already good news," said the representative.
"We were told he's stable. That means it's not getting better, but it's not getting worse either. The good thing right now is that he's waking up. You have to be positive and think that Junior will come out of this," he added.
Guerra also revealed that Sambia suffered three days of severe diarrhea, as if he had gastroenteritis, and that he had a COVID-19 test that came back negative after going to the hospital on Tuesday.
However, the player got worse and his lungs started to fail, so he returned to the hospital and was admitted to the ICU.
"He wasn't always lucky. However, he always worked hard to become a professional footballer," said his representative, highlighting Sambia's fighting spirit.
