Jovic injured once again

It has been a year to forget for Luka Jovic. Real Madrid have announced via their official channels that the 22 year-old Serbian striker has got injured again so he will not be able to play against Monchengladbach in the Champions League.  

The former Eintracht Frankfurt player, who was set to be playing up front with Karim Benzema, has got tendonitis in the adductor muscles in his right leg, as can be seen in the medical report published by Real Madrid. 

Jovic was not able to train on Tuesday morning together with the rest of his teammates in Valdebebas, a new setback for a player who has not been able to put his physical problems behind him and that now he could be out for between two and three weeks, as 'Mundo Deportivo' are reporting. 

It is for that reason that everything seems to indicate that Jovic will not be able to play again until next year. The absence of the Serbian international is added to that of Mariano so Zidane will have to look for an alternative strike partner for Benzema. 

Everything seems to indicate that Asensio, Rodrygo and Vinicius will be the men to play alongside the Frenchman in attack after Jovic's unexpected injury. The Serbian has been unable to get any kind of regular game time. 

So far this season, Jovic has only played 207 minutes across five competitive matches, three of them as a starter. He has yet to score for Real Madrid this season. He has found the back of net just twice in two seasons at the club. 

Real Madrid's statement is the following: 

"Following tests carried out today on our player, Luka Jović, by Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with tendonitis in the adductor muscles of his right leg. His recovery will continue to be assessed."
