Leeds United have been left without Jordan Stevens for six weeks. The English midfielder will remain unavailable for breaking FA laws on betting.
His club made it official this Tuesday in an official statement on social media. In it they admit that they will help their player: "We will support Jordan through this process, he is a young footballer who needs educating on the dangers of outside influences and how to conduct himself as a professional footballer."
On the other hand, the Leeds chief executive, Angus Kinnear, expressed his disappointment at the decision: "Whilst we fully recognise the importance of the FA's role in protecting the integrity of the game, we are hugely disappointed in the FA's choice of sanction."
Finally, he was upset with the people who made this decision. "We are particularly disappointed that the sanction was determined by two former professional footballers who we hoped would have had a better understanding of the impact of their decision," the statement concluded. The player will not be able to train or interact with club staff.
