Jones had an evening to forget, giving away the decisive penalty and heading a good chance wide of the post as Chelsea ran out 1-0 winners to secure the FA Cup trophy.
Following the conclusion of the final, many 'Red Devil' and England supporters took to Twitter to express their disappointment in Jones, highlighting his error-prone style as a possible issue in the forthcoming World Cup.
One user said "I've been saying this for ages but a blind horse would be an improvement on Phil Jones" whilst another added: "Never understood Jose [Mourinho]'s obsession with Jones. He's always got a mistake in him. Not called Calamity Jones for nothing #MUFC".
Even major companies such as bookies 'Coral' got in on the action. They accompanied a gif of a horse falling off an exercise ball with the caption: "Phil Jones trying to keep up with Eden Hazard".

Analysing the FA Cup final for 'BBC', Alan Shearer echoed these sentiments: "If I was a centre-forward playing against Phil Jones going into a game for 90 minutes, I would feel confident he would make at least one mistake in the game that I could pounce on".
Jones made Gareth Southgate's squad for the upcoming World Cup in Russia, while team-mate Chris Smalling, who had a much better game, missed out.
