The Portugal international striker Joao Felix, has become the winner of the Golden Boy 2019, according to what 'Tuttosport' revealed, who are responsible for awarding this prestigious prize.
Born in Viseu and 20-years-old, the Portuguese attacker is now the best player in the world who is less than 21-years-old, ahead of Englishman and Borussia Dortmund player Jadon Sancho and German, Kai Havertz, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen.
Joao Felix signed for Atletico Madrid this summer, he came from Benfica and was chosen by 40 journalists to win the award.
Last year, he scored 20 goals with Benfica and was crowned UEFA League of Nations champion with the Portugal national team.
"Thank you to 'Tuttosport' for the Golden Boy Award 2019, I am very proud. It is the second time that an Atletico Madrid player has won this award (Aguero won it in 2007) and I am happy. Thanks also to Benfica, especially to the coach, Bruno Lage, for everything they have done for me and my family, who are always close to me," were the Portuguese words with the Italian media after finding out about the news.
Joa Felix succeeds Matthijs de Ligt and Kylian Mbappé as winner among a list made by an International Premium Jury of 40 sports journalists.
