Like many Brazilians, Jesus grew up in one of the city's famous favelas and wants to act as a source of inspiration for youngsters following suit.
The striker has since made it onto one of football's biggest stages, winning the Premier League title with Manchester City in his first season under Pep Guardiola.
However, he will never forget his roots and took to Twitter to express his pride of the new mural on show.
He wrote: "So proud to see this happening back where it all began in my hometown, Jardim Peri. Alo Mae! Thank you @adidasfootball and my neighbourhood".
Jesus is expected to be one of Brazil's driving forces at this summer's tournament, even being tipped as a favourite for the Golden Boot.
