WBA were in a strong position in the match at Goodison Park, but things went pear shaped for them just before the interval. James Rodriguez scored to put Everton in front and then Gibbs hit out at him and was deservedly sent off.
It all occurred in a very short space of time just before half-time. Everton, who were losing because of an early goal by Diangana, levelled 15 minutes later through Calvert-Lewin.
James made amends for his error in the 0-1 goal when a bad pass to Andre Gomes led to a WBA counter which Diangana scored from. The Colombian soon overcame that though.
In the 45th minute, he scored a lovely goal from just outside the box which would have sent the Goodison Park crowd crazy had the game not been behind closed doors.

But there was more. In the next attack, after a throw-in, Kieran Gibbs hit James Rodriguez in the face. Referee Mike Dean had no hesitation in issuing Gibbs with a straight red card. Slaven Bilic, the West Brom manager, was also dismissed for his protests.
The Englishman hit James in the face in an off the ball incident. The VAR checked the incident, but quickly gave it the all clear as it was so obvious.
