The Colombia international has been playing through the pain barrier for almost two years, having first suffered the injury on international duty in 2015.
The player is now playing his trade in the Chinese Super League following an ill-fated spell with Atletico Madrid and in a bid to solve his troublesome ankle issue, he has gone under the knife for the second time this season.
Martinez twisted his ankle badly in November 2015 when playing against Chile. Such was the damage sustained that the former Porto man left the field on a stretcher. Six months later, the Colombian was still not fully recovered and the 30-year-old wound up aggravating the injury, leading to the decision to operate.
The first peration took place in November though it would appear that it wasn't successful, with the striker requiring further surgery.
Jackson isn't letting the situation get him down though.
