Italy entered a new phase for the end of lockdown on Sunday. Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, announced that from 4th May, athletes will be able to return to individual training.
This will, therefore, mean that the first training sessions in football teams will take place from Monday 4th May, although we will have to wait until 18th for group sessions.
"I love football, it seemed strange to me to live without Serie A but that's what had to happen," the Prime Minister said, who nevertheless refused to give a date for the resumption of the competition.
In this way, Italy are starting to glimpse the beginning of the end of the COVID-19 pandemic and see how, bit by bit, Serie A can start to return to normality, although without fans.
With regards to Italian society, from 4th May access to parks will be allowed, family visits, funerals and bars, and restaurants with home delivery will start to open. On 18th May, in principle, museums and libraries will reopen.
Conte's words clash with those of the Italian Federation. The FIGC predicted that Italian football would remain at a standstill until at least 2nd August.
