"It's a clear goal, but Ronaldo can't throw the armband on the ground"

Cristiano Ronaldo was not at all happy after Portugal's game in Serbia on Saturday. The Portuguese thought he had given Portugal the winner in the 93rd minute with the score at 2-2, but the referee said that the ball had not crossed the line. 

Replays showed that the ball clearly went over the line and the Portugal captain was furious. CR7 was so angry that he was booked for his protests and he threw the captain's armband down in frustrations. 

Hours later, he apologised for his behaviour on social media and the former Portugal international Fernando Meira has criticised Cristiano Ronaldo's attitude. 

"It's a clear goal, but Ronaldo cannot throw the captain's armband down to the ground. Cristiano's reaction is normal, but it's not acceptable for a Portugal captain. You can't throw the armband down to the ground and head for the dressing room," he told 'Record'. 

"It's not acceptable for a player of his importance. I understand his frustration and I agree with him because his goal was valid, but the referee has to make decisions without VAR and he has to set an example. And what he did last night is not what one should do," Meira concluded.
