This Monday Zinedine Zidane spoke at a press conference to discuss Real Madrid's Champions League match against Borussia Mönchengladbach. The first test to see if the 'Clásico' was the remedy to the disaster against Shakhtar Donetsk.
On this, the Frenchman recognized that it is an opportunity to consolidate the good feelings from the game at Camp Nou: "It is a game that confirms to us that we have to do as well as we did at the weekend against Barca. Now we know well the situation of our rival in the Champions League".
With the 'Clásico' still fresh on everybody's minds, Zidane was asked the controversies of the game: "I don't mind, we stick to what we did. As a team we fought, we played well and the important thing is to do the same: to stay focused, to fight and to fight. It's going to be complicated and what we want is to concentrate on 'Gladbach and what we do on the pitch. We shouldn't even talk about the rest".
One of the questions floating in the air before the match against Barca was whether Zidane would consider resigning in the event of defeat. He did not want to address it: "I am thinking only and exclusively of this match. The rest... I'm going to fight until the last day, we're going to do things as we always did as a team, as a squad and the rest we'll see".
Zidane excused Isco's complaints
There are three names that stand out in the match on Saturday and this Tuesday. The first, that of an Isco Alarcón who was caught criticising Zidane during the prematch for the game at Camp Nou. That day he didn't even go out to warm up and his relationship could be better, but the Frenchman came out in defence of his player.
"Isco's thing is ambition and he wants to play like everyone else, that's positive. Everyone wants to play but that does not depend on them, his thing is to be at the top and play when it is his turn. The players are all ready to play as always and then I will have to make the decision to take one eleven or another, and that will not change, "said Zidane.
