The other four nations had already announced plans to compete for the award of the the 'greatest show on earth' in 2030.
However now the Irish FA are looking at the possibility of joining the bid and will join a feasibility study ''following recent positive discussions amongst all parties.''
Dublin's Aviva Stadium has already been chosen as a venue for Euro 2020 and will host three group stage matches and a last-16 tie.
England, bidding on its own, previously failed to secure the 2006 and 2018 tournaments and haven't hosted the World Cup since 1966.
Other bids look like they will be coming from joint efforts between Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay in South America and Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco in North Africa.
