Ilkay Gundogan joined Manchester United this summer for €27 million from Borussia Dortmund. His first season doesn't start that well. City played on Wednesday 2-0 against Watforrd and the German had to leave the pitch with an injury.
The 26-year-old has to undergo an injury on his torn cruciate knee ligaments.
"It's so, so difficult for him, and so sad for him - we're going to miss him a lot," his coach has confirmed in an interview.
"He will be out for a time. He's going to be operated on and be back as soon as possible. We tell him that he feels we are there for him. I'm sure he's sad in this moment but he will come back after the operation.
"During the season these things happen. You don't expect to be all season with all the players fit. But we want the injuries as short as possible and in Ilkay' s case that is not going to happen".
Gundogan has scored this season five goals in 16 appearances.
