"If I had listened to criticism, I would have retired"

Germany defeated North Macedonia and became the first national team to earn a place in the 2022 World Cup. Timo Werner's brace was, apart from the result, the main news that night.
The striker received lots of criticism for his lack of scoring with the German team. However, the Chelsea forward wanted to silence all his haters with his post-match comments to 'The Sun'.
“The criticism has to let you go because if I thought too much about those days, I wouldn’t be able to play for Germany", said Werner.
In Germany, no one doubts his potential: "I know what I can do and so I go into every game with that mindset".
