Koke Resurreccion, Atletico Madrid midfielder, is looking to break a bad run as an international, 63 games without a goal for the Spanish national team, although he "does everything possible" to be able to contribute to the team in the goalscoring aspect.
One goal for the Atleti in the season that has just ended, another last season, five the season before, but none as an international nine years after his debut, in August 2013 against Ecuador. Koke wants to put an end to his bad run.
"I would like to score a goal for the Spanish national team," he confessed. "I've been playing a lot of games, I haven't had the chance and I want to do it. I'm doing everything I can to do it, but if I don't and the national team wins, I'll be just as happy because the important thing is that the team wins, but I'd like to score goals," he added.
Their next match in the Nations League is against the Czech Republic, "a team that is growing", as he pointed out. And he recalled the good impression they gave at the Euros: "They eliminated the Netherlands in the round of 16, they beat a great team like Switzerland. We're going to try to counter their football with everything we do".
