Julen Lopetegui's time at Real Madrid is well known. From his controversial arrival after being sacked by Spain until leaving the club shortly afterwards.
Kroos has defended the Basque on multiple occasions and he did so again on his podcast 'Einfach mal Luppen.' He was badly affected by the departure of the now Sevilla coach.
"Lopetegui's dismissal was the once that hurt me most because he's a top class coach and person. He came at a s**t moment when he became the coach here. I was really happy for him when he won the Europa League with Sevilla because he deserved it," Kroos said.
The German said his wife asked him what was happening and he replied that "it was really affecting him": "I would've kept him because I was convinced he was going to triumph."
" He came to a club that had just won three Champions Leagues in a row and then Cristiano left. It was clear that it was not going to be an easy year. It was the dismissal I've been most affected by out of all of them in Madrid. It left a bitter taste in the mouth," he concluded.
