In comments given to 'Voetbal International', Jasper Cillessen showed his anger at his lack of opportunities for Valencia. His contract runs until June 2023.
"It's simple, I have to keep on working hard to be ready for when the coach needs me, but to be honest I don't see myself sitting on the Valencia bench in two and a half years time, when my contract ends," the former Barcelona goalie said.
The 31 year-old goalkeeper also talked about the situation in the Netherlands camp. He highlighted the great atmosphere there is every time the players get together and that they are all very close.
"The atmosphere is still very good. There are no groups, like there unfortunately used to be. Everyone talks to each other. Not long back, I read Teun Koopmeiners' comments about how well the Dutch side treats newcomers. That's significant," Cillessen said.
Finally, the Valencia keeper praised Koeman for his time as Netherlands coach: "Koeman stressed from the beginning that we really needed each other and that nobody can ignore that. That was the main thing that led to a good period for the national team. Qualifying for the Euros was the first reward."
