"I won because of my consistency" - Rodri on Ballon d'Or triumph

At 28 years of age, Rodri is living a dream. The Spanish footballer, in the midst of recovery from a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee, won the Ballon d'Or two weeks ago. The Manchester City player, a humble and far from stereotypes guy, went through the microphones of 'El Partidazo de COPE' to talk about everything he experienced that magical night of October 28th.
The midfielder, winner of the award ahead of Vinicius, who started as favourite, explained why he won the award: “I think I won because of my consistency, which is the hardest thing in football. I believe I was the most consistent player of the season, perhaps not with the highest peaks, but the most regular. I never thought I could replicate a season like last year. Winning with the team, stepping up in important moments, and being decisive. Repeating that is very complicated. In my opinion, I had a very similar level.
In addition, the Sky Blues player said that rather than seeing the Brazilian lifting the award before him, Carvajal should have been the other possible winner.. "I would vote for Carvajal in second place and then Vinicius," he commented.
"Finally, Rodri was very optimistic about a hypothetical return before the end of the campaign. The 2025 Club World Cup will bring the season to a close. “Yes, yes. The seasons are longer now. The World Cup ends on July 13th,” he concluded.
