Gaetano D'Agostino's career ended suddenly due to an injury. However, he was close to pen a Real Madrid deal.
He started his career as a midfielder at Roma and had his best season with Udinese. Now he is the coach of Anzio, as he ended his career at the ago of 34.
A few weeks ago he remembered a special moment of this career in an interview with Sphera Sports.
"I had a cigarette in my mouth and was playing Playstation. I saw a foreign number on my mobile's display. I answered the call and the person said he was calling from Real Madrid and wanted to sign me. I thought it was a joke and hung up," he explained Bronzetti's call.
"Bronzetti asked me if I was married. I said yes. He told me that this is good, as Real Madrid is a city full of tentations. I thought once again that he was joking," he added.
In the end Udinese asked €20 million from Real Madrid and they opted fro Xabi Alonso.
