David Moyes, current coach of West Ham United, revealed in the press conference before the game against Tottenham that he tried to sign Gareth Bale in the summer of 2013.
At that time, the Welsh international striker was about to close his transfer to Real Madrid, a team with which he has played 251 official matches, in addition to celebrating 105 goals.
"I wanted Gareth to be my first signing with United. But he was already a bit on the way to Real Madrid. I tried to 'kidnap' him, to catch him. United offered more money than Madrid, but they offered the player more money," Moyes revealed in the press room.
