"I thought about dinking the penalty, like Zidane. But in the end I wanted to be sure," Griezmann explained after the game.
France were controversially awarded that penalty after Ivan Perisic was penalised for handling a Griezmann corner from the right, with former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher describing the decision as "100% wrong".
Naturally, Griezmann was delighted with the win and there was also some personal glory for the Atletico Madrid man as was voted as the third best player of the tournament behind Luka Modric and Eden Hazard following the game.
"I don't know where I am. I'm really very happy. It was a difficult match, Croatia played very well. We started slowly but we improved little by little and were able to make the difference. Frankly, this is huge," Griezmann added.
