The Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski strongly believes the Bavarians have "a great opportunity" to win the Champions League this season.
"I can see we have a great opportunity to win the Champions League this season! We are in good form and there is good chemistry in the team," the 31 year-old striker told 'Sport Bild'.
Beforehand, the Pole explained that the team want to win the German Cup against Bayer Leverkusen this Saturday, which would mean the domestic double. If they also won the Champions League, it would be the club's second treble after the one in 2013.
From Sunday, the Bayern coach, Hansi Flick, will give his players two weeks holiday before preparations begin for the Champions League last 16 second leg against Chelsea on 7th or 8th August. Then, the quarter-finals begin on 12th August in Portugal.
Despite the break, the five time top goalscorer in the Bundesliga is positive about the Champions League. "This is, of course, unusual before these important games. But we have already had an experience with performing with this kind of preparation. In fact, we managed to dominate after the Bundesliga resumption," he said.
"In one or two practice games we will warm up for the Champions League. Furthermore, it's not bad that we have a second leg against Chelsea to get back into form," he concluded. Bayern have got a 0-3 lead from the first leg in London.
