'I never thought about joining PSG, I only wanted to play for Madrid'

Aurelien Tchouameni arrived at Real Madrid this summer. The 22-year-old midfielder signed a contract until 2028 and gradually earned his place in Carlo Ancelotti's starting eleven. Now, the former Monaco man is a key player in the 'Merengues' plans, as proven by the eight official matches, seven of them as a starter, that he has already played so far this season.

In comments to 'Telefoot', the French international spoke about his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu and made it clear that he never had any doubts about his future: "I didn't have any doubts about PSG. It's also a great European club, but I had no doubts: I only wanted Real Madrid". 

Moreover, Tchouameni made it clear that he has never felt pressured by his €80 million transfer fee: "No matter the transfer fee, there is always pressure at this club. I am trying to live up to expectations. I wasn't the one in the office to give the figures for my transfer. In the end, when you come to Madrid and you are a starter you always have to perform well". 

Asked about those who call him the 'new Pogba', the Madrid player commented: "I'm not the 'new Pogba'. I'm Tchouameni, I'm trying to write my own story. We play in the same position, but there is only one Pogba. 

Finally, Tchouameni wanted to talk about his chances with France ahead of the World Cup in Qatar, which kicks off in November: "I'm trying to help the team. After that, if Kante and Pogba come back, it will be up to the coach to choose, and I will always do my best to be a starter. I'll try to win points with Real Madrid and then we'll wait for the list.
