"I don't want sanctions for Inter, Milan and Juve, we want an agreement in writing"

Fiorentina's general director Joe Barone didn't look fondly upon the pressure that UEFA have imposed on clubs to sanction the founders of the European Super League. He would prefer a document in writing where the clubs agree that they will not do it again, nor create projects of the same nature.

"I don't want sanctions against Inter, Milan and Juve. We want an agreement in writing from them and from whoever who doesn't think this will happen again. Italian football must deveop within its own league. We are against it. We want profound reforms",  he assured.

These were his statements in the preview before the Serie A match against Juventus. It was one of the stories of the day not just because of the opponent, but because the atmosphere of tension in Italy, England, Spain, Germany and France for the teams that may be punished.

Another interesting note is that several of these sides are struggling to get into the top positions in their respective leagues and thus look unlikely to participate in the Champions League next seaosn. This gives a dual dimension to the problem - it is both administrative (sanctions) and sporting (difficulties in qualification).
