Atletico Madrid are on a good run at the moment. They are deservedly top of La Liga and have been crowned winter champions after 25 years.
Part of Atletico's success is due to their goalkeeper Jan Oblak. Scoring a goal against him is almost impossible. Atletico Madrid have the best defence in the Spanish league. They have only conceded six times this term.
Oblak spoke to Panenka about his role at Atletico. The Slovenian revealed the key to his success. "I don't remember the last time I got nervous in a match. When I have the opportunity to be on the pitch, I'm happ. I've always felt more joy than nerves."
Not even what happened at Anfield troubled Oblak. "I wasn't nervous against Liverpool either. It's a privilege to be able play matches like that one. There were still fans in the stands at that time. It was an absolute pleasure to play at Anfield," he continued.
Oblak said that he feels a leader at Atletico. It makes sense, I've been here for seven seasons. I feel like one of the leaders, but there are more players who feel like that," Oblak said.
Lastly, he gave his opinion on the team. He thinks they have now moved on after the departure of players like Godin, Griezmann and Lucas Hernandez in the past. "We've managed it amongst everybody, we've gone from the generation of two years ago to the current one. Almost half the team left and we've needed a year to build a strong team again," the goalie concluded.
