Gareth Bale revealed everything in an interview with the British newspaper 'The Telegraph' in Madrid. They hardly touched on sporting themes and the meeting took place to speak about some of the footballer's investmenets, those that may be affected by "Brexit", which is one of the issues which doesn't worry Bale too much.
"I see something, because "Brexit" affects me in economic terms and some things change, but I don't read the majority of things. Honestly, I do not know 99% of what is happening with "Brexit". Neither do I know who is the Prime minister," he explained.
His phrase quickly jumped to the front page of newspapers around the World. Whilst in Spain, they were surprised by his ignorance and in Wales they were amazed at his lack of knowledge.
"Bale admits that he doesn't know who the Prime minister is," 'Wales Online' titled.
When he was told that the Prime minister was a member of the Conservative, Boris Johnson, Bale made a faint recollection. "I didn't know, I thought he was the mayor of London," And he was, but three years ago.
The lack of interest in such important issues for his country is contrasted with his knowledge of gold, where he can say who the World number 1 is, no problem!

One of the explanations for all of this was his lack of use of social media, since a company manages them for him and he only has to give the go-ahead to publications. A technique which a lot of athletes use today and that prevents him from getting in trouble on the internet. He doesn't read speculations about his future and explains that since he was young he realised that looking at what the press says is a bad idea.
"I don't have anything on my mobile phone. Unless a friend sends me something ot my agent needs to know something, I don't pay much attention," he reflected.
The following chapter in Bale's story will be to see how the United Kingdom react to the words of one of the greatest exports in recent years, since his moce from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid was more than 100 million years.
In a society that is wrapped up more and more in "Brexit", anchored to the decisions of its leader, the total political ignorance of one of the nation's most important players will create criticism.
At least Bale is honest. "I'm not interested" And that's why his indifference and his bubble take him away from the real world.
