Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has achieved his objective. The PSG president successfully persuaded Kylian Mbappe to renew his contract at PSG until 2025, a deal which has been scolded by La Liga.
At Real Madrid, everyone is looking past the debarcle and the players reflected this attitude during the Champions League's 'Media Day'. During the interviews, the Real Madrid stars looked ahead to the upcoming final and mentioned that they respect the Frenchman's decision to stay at PSG.
In a recent interview with 'TNT Sports Brasil', the French club's president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, was questioned on the relationship he has with Florentino Perez, Real Madrid's president.
"The truth is that eveyone respects eachother, but I don't have a good relationship with him. I respect Real Madrid because it's a great club and they respect us, therefore we respect them", he affirmed.
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi insisted that "mutual respect is very important", especially when considering the subjects of players such as Mbappe or projects like the Superleague.
"I never spoke to Florentino because Kylian is our player and I don't need to speak to anyone", said the PSG president, who has met with Perez in the past to discuss Superleague plans.
This is not the first time that the PSG president has revealed his frosty relationship with his Spanish counterpart. A few months ago, the Qatari admitted to 'Canal+' that there is "almost no" relationship.
