In an exclusive from 'The Daily Mail', the young winger believes he has a better chance of developing in the Bundesliga. Bayern Munich are reported to expect Hudson-Odoi to go straight into their first-team, and would offer him the No 10 shirt when veteran Arjen Robben retires this summer. Although Chelsea are keen to hold on to their star academy product, it is far from certain that the youngster will be getting more game time any time soon.
One reason offered for Chelsea's recent failure to promote youth is their high turnover of managers, meaning there is little reason to think about the long-term future. Hudson-Odoi has been caught between the end of Antonio Conte's reign, during which the Italian's imminent departure seemed inevitable, and the start of Mauricio Sarri's time at the club. With his job on the line after a turbulent start to life in west London, Sarri appears unwilling to gamble on unproven youth players.
The Bundesliga is showing signs of being a highly beneficial environment for young English talent, with Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson both excelling in Germany, and Ademola Lookman enjoying a positive loan spell at RB Leipzig last year. Hudson-Odoi's contract only runs until 2020, meaning that his value will drop dramatically on February 1st, when he will only have one year left on his contract. It could be then that Bayern make their move.
