The English manager was speaking ahead of Saturday's game against struggling Burnley and spoke glowingly of the spirit and togetherness his players have shown.
"To be honest, it's always felt like there's something special here. I've never seen or felt a problem with the team spirit, with the mentality of the group," said Howe.
"Yes, you have spells when you win and spells when you don't, and that usually dictates confidence levels. But in terms of off the pitch and the way players integrate with each other, I've never felt we've had a problem with that and it's always been one of our strengths.
"The group is in a good place mentally now, it's a tighter, smaller group than possibly last year and I think the players are enjoying that."
With a smaller budget than the vast majority of their Premier League rivals, the tightness of the group has proved vital in Bournemouth's march up the table, but Howe is not content to sit back now.
He added: "It's been a good start there is no denying that. We're happy with what we've done and delivered, but there is more to come from the team. Individuals can do even better."
