"We would never accept a change in the goalkeeping. We would no longer provide players for the national team if that were to happen," said the Bayern Munich president in an interview to 'Sports Bild'.
Hoeness reacted by saying that coach Joachim Low and the German Football Association (DFB) should have "sat Ter Stegen in the corner" and told him that it is not his place to make such public statements.
When asked if Hoeness' threat worries him, Germany general manager Oliver Bierhoff told Sport Bild: "No, because a club is obligated to release its players for international duty as per FIFA regulations."
Hoeness, questioned about whether he will seek dialogue with Low, said he does not consider it necessary. "He registers what we say anyway," Hoeness said.
We'll have to see what that means. In the meantime, according to the latest information, it seems that Löw could choose to start Ter Stegen for the match against Argentina.
