The former England manager was speaking to the media after his side spurned a number of chances before conceding two late goals to slump to a 2-0 defeat to Everton.
Luka Milivojevic saw a penalty saved by Jordan Pickford with the score still 0-0, before goals from substitutes Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun won the match at Goodison Park.
The defeat left the 'Eagles' 15th in the Premier League, with only seven points. Their main issue has been a lack of goals, scoring only five so far this season and Hodgson says this has affected their confidence.
When asked if this was the case he replied: ''Of course it does (affect confidence), there's no doubt about that.
''But having said that, we're coming to Everton, they're on the back of two very good results, and I thought for the best part not only did we defend well enough to stifle most of their efforts, I thought we also looked pretty dangerous going forward.
''If we can continue to do that, the goals will definitely come.
''Luka has only missed two penalties out of about nine or 10, so I'm sure he'll score the next one. I'm sure we'll get penalties and opportunities, because we do send people forward, into the opposition's box.''
