HJK Helsinki hope for run in Champions League

Despite the majority of European leagues still in play, those in Northern Europe with harsh winter climates tend to already have a champion. That is the case with Finland and the Finnish Veikkausliiga, with HJK Helsinki winning a record 30th title.

The Finnish Veikkausliiga may not be the most followed league in the world, but it certainly has a team that is more successful than everyone else. It is like a vicious cycle for the other smaller clubs, one team wins the league, gains the Champions League money, uses it to buy the best players etc. The team that dominates in Finland is HJK Helsinki.

The fact that the capital is always winning the league makes them a great team to bet on, using sites such as vedonlyontibonukset.com. HJK Helsinki won the league for a record 30th time this season. They finished 7 points above closest challengers Inter Turku and KuPS.

Such is the dominance of HJK Helsinki that they have won the league 8 times since 2010. Something that they lack though is a Champions League run. They do have some experience of playing group stage football, making the Europa League group stages in 2014-15. They also put together a good Champions League run in 1998-99 but they came bottom of their Champions League group. They did though manage to beat Benfica and earn a respectable draw against Kaiserslautern. But it's precisely that, they haven't made the Champions League group stages in over 20 years. They will be hoping that the 2021-22 season can be the season that they break that duct, but with the richest teams getting even richer and the financial divide even greater than ever, it will be a very tough ask for the Finnish outfit. Helsinki will enter the Champions League qualifying 1st qualifying round and will likely be seeded for the round, meaning that they avoid some of the tougher sides.

With regards to the other European representatives, a new European competition (Conference League) means that there will be no Finnish representatives in the Europa League in the 2021-22 season. Inter Turku, KuPs and Honka will play in the new competition.

With the league now over and a 2 month wait until the new campaign gets underway, then why not ass the time by getting involved in some casino betting. There are some new casinos in Finland, with uudetkasinot.com standing out.
