Herrera is now Portuguese: he will no longer count towards non-EU quota

Hector Herrera's signing for Atletico Madrid has not been announced yet, but it seems like the Wanda will be his next destination. It just needs to be made official.
The footballer's contract expired on 31st May. Therefore, he is free to sign for the team he wants.
Hector Herrera will arrive for free. And he will do so, according to 'A Bola', after having acquired a Portuguese passport. He has apparently already been issued it. This means he will not count as a non-EU player (teams can have a maximum of three in the squad).
Now it just remains to be seen when the transfer will be announced. Barring a surprise, it will be Atletico Madrid who sign the footballer.
